I am an American post-master’s student living in London. My primary academic interest is in colonial Southeast Asian history, with an emphasis on 19th and 20th century Burmese history. I am also more generally interested in British imperial history, imperial culture, intra- and inter-imperial exchange, the history of the built environment, food, consumer culture, exhibitions, photography and the history and politics of dress. I am currently working on a non-fiction book about my two years living, working, and studying Burmese in Yangon, provisionally titled “The Yangon English Language Conversation Club”. I am a student of the Burmese language and I hope one day to read and write fluently,
