I am an American PhD student. My primary academic interest is in colonial Southeast Asian history, with an emphasis on 19th and 20th century Burmese history. I am also more generally interested in British imperial history, imperial culture, intra- and inter-imperial exchange, the history of the built environment, food, consumer culture, exhibitions, photography and the history and politics of dress. I wrote a monthly history column for Myanmore Magazine and have contributed to the Mekong Review, Tea Circle Oxford and Southeast Asia Globe.
